Who is this PSK Course for?

This course is designed for experienced Scrum Masters and Professional Scrum Practitioners who want to take the next step in their effectiveness.

It is particularly valuable for teams working with DevOps, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). Ideally, attendees have read the Kanban Guide for Scrum Teams and have a solid baseline of Scrum knowledge.

Learning objective

There is a myth that teams need to choose between using Scrum or Kanban. There are many benefits to optimizing the flow of work in Scrum by leveraging Kanban practices. In this 2 day course, you will learn the benefits of using Scrum and Kanban together.

What You Will Learn: Flow, Metrics & Predictability

The goal of this course is to help you understand how flow can help Scrum Teams. You will learn how to visualize work, limit Work in Progress (WIP), and use data to make better decisions.

During this PSK training, we cover:

Kanban Theory & Practice: Understand the principles of flow and how they apply to the Scrum framework.

Flow Metrics: Learn to use Cycle Time, Throughput, and Work Item Age to drive continuous improvement.

Service Level Expectation (SLE): Learn how to use data to create an SLE and improve delivery predictability.

Visualization: How to increase transparency by visualizing the Sprint Backlog and workflow effectively.

Training setup

The training is highly interactive and combines theory with practice. New concepts will be explained, several exercises will deepen your understanding of those concepts and deep conversations will be facilitated to answer your questions. The PSK consist of the following topics:

PSK I Assessment & Certification

This course is the official preparation for the Scrum.org PSK I Assessment.

Exam Included: The course fee includes a voucher for the PSK I assessment.

Free Retake: We are committed to your success. If you attempt the assessment within two weeks of the training and score less than 85%, you will automatically receive a second attempt at no extra cost.

Lifetime Certification: Once you pass, your certification is valid for life with no renewal fees.

Preparation

To maximize your learning experience, we advise you the following:

Read both the Scrum Guide and the The Kanban Guide for Scrum Teams (at least once) and write down any questions or remarks.
Additionally, the free online Scrum with Kanban Open assessment on the Scrum.org website can provide valuable insights.

After the training, you will have access to the ‘classroom page’, which contains all relevant training materials. As a bonus, via this page, you will also have access to content which dives deeper into specific topics, related to your role and the challenges and environments you might encounter.

Loads of interactive elements and learning through doing. Quite some facilitation techniques SM could use. Small group (11 people) and almost all exercises were in smaller groups giving enough time for everybody to express themselves. Why not 5? We didn't talk a lot about the training relationship to PSM II and what you can expect from the questions for the certificate. We touched it only briefly regarding practical details. Overall, if you don't want PPT presentations and want interactive sessions with your chance to shape it, I can recommend Scrum Facilitators!
