Scrum Master 3.0
Certified
Scrum Master 3.0 series is all about empirical thinking and getting from unconscious incompetence to conscious competence while living the Scrum Values.
The Scrum Master 3.0 is not a course. It’s not a workshop. It’s not training. Not one session of Scrum Master 3.0 is the same. Because every situation, every participant, and every day is different. The same goes for your teams and organizations. There is no silver bullet, or one size fits all. There is great value in the Scrum Values and empiricism. In these two days, we will activate your muscle memory and coach, reflect and introspect on your knowledge and behavior as a Scrum Master.

Delivery methods
In-Person classes
We recognize the importance of practical learning experiences, so we offer in-person classes for those who prefer face-to-face interaction. Our in-person classes provide a dynamic environment where participants can interact directly with instructors, ask questions in real-time, and collaborate with fellow learners.
Virtual classes
Our virtual classes provide an exceptional solution for those seeking flexibility and the convenience of learning from any location. Designed to accommodate diverse schedules and geographical locations, our online classes offer a robust, interactive, engaging learning platform.
Language
We are dedicated to delivering high-quality training experiences. By default, all our classes, whether in-person or virtual, are conducted in English to ensure a consistent and effective learning environment. If a specific class is offered in a language other than English, this will be mentioned in the course details.
We aim to accommodate diverse language preferences and create an inclusive learning atmosphere for everyone. If you have any questions regarding the language of instruction for a particular course or if you require language assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our support team.
Who should take this course?
Scrum Master 3.0 is for Scrum Masters seeking to deepen their role; not only with new knowledge but with new perspectives on their behaviour and effectiveness. The course is not about theory. It’s about living the Scrum Values and effectively applying empiricism in everyday situations. It’s about avoiding being the superhero Scrum Master. It’s overcoming the imposter syndrome. It’s learning from the coaches (we cannot call them trainers in this course) and other participants. If you want to prepare for the PSM III assessment, Scrum Master 3.0 may help. It will help you to be precise and concise in your language. It will help you reflect on your actions as a Scrum Master. However, this is not a PSM III course. The goal is not to pass the assessment. And to be honest, the course is not designed to help you pass the assessment. However, it won’t do any harm for sure, taking you in the right direction.
We are not able to tell you what you will learn upfront. This will be different for each participant. We will focus on the learning goals of the group and the participants individually, and during the course we will coach everybody on what we see and hear. One of the outcomes of Scrum Master 3.0 is the discovery of new personal objectives, which might help you in your further Scrum Master journey.
During these two days, we create a safe environment for participants to be open and honest about their thoughts. We will spend time enabling that. We will get to know each other. But we will also have a lot of fun. We will play a two-day game in which each participant takes turns in taking on impediments, cases, teaching moments, and battles!
- Impediments are situations that prohibit the empirical process. We challenge the participants to come up with a method or technique they know could help solve the impediment;
- Cases describe situations that we have encountered in real life. Whenever you get a case, you throw the Scrum Values dice and discover how one of the Scrum Values can help you analyze and approach the situation at hand;
- Teaching is an important skill for a Scrum Master since you should be able to explain Scrum and other Agile-related frameworks, methods, and techniques. Suppose you’re in the elevator with a new colleague who asks: “What is that Daily Scrum all about?” you need to be able to give him or her a fast, clear, precise, and concise response.
- Battle, not a fight. Promise. Sometimes things are going on in organizations that you do not agree with. Can you find the respect for the other party to listen to arguments and not just rant in your own thoughts? Or do you clearly state that everyone needs to take a seat during the Daily Scrum? A battle challenges you to look at a situation from several perspectives and learn from that.
This course includes a free half-day virtual workshop, "There is value in the Scrum Values" by Gunther Verheyen and a one-hour 1-on-1 coaching.
This course is designed to support Scrum Masters in their journey. Some participants just started, others have years of experience as an Agile coach. Our experience is that each participant will learn, including the ones facilitating the Scrum Master 3.0.
If you have never read the Scrum Guide, you might want to start there and get some hands-on experience in Scrum Mastery first. The most important preparation for the course is to bring some challenging learning goals, questions, and a lot of enthusiasm with you!
There is no assessment attached to this course. Scrum Master 3.0 will help you in your journey, no matter what assessment you plan to take (with regards to Scrum Mastery). Yes, also the PSM III. It does not come with the package. And if the PSM III assessment is what you are after; this course will help you discover there is always room for improvement.
We would love to meet you and walk a bit with you on your journey. We’re just travellers, just like you. Will we see you there?
You will:
You have been trained to think and act like a Scrum professional. You have insight in your strengths and uncertainties and you are open about it. You will focus on empiricism instead of solutions. You will have a commitment to challenge the status quo. You will have the courage to be vulnerable. You will respect every one of your team members, even if they don’t think the same way you do.
“A journey during which I was given the opportunity and safety to explore myself as a Scrum Master and to find ways to improve myself. Not so much with theory but with practical things. To be honest there were moments where I was maximally pulled outside of my comfort zone and hit some personal impediments. And other times just a lot of laughing with each other. But that’s what made it for me so valuable these 2 days. An open, safe space with sometimes seriousness and mostly a lot of fun but always with the goal of learning and improving.” - Remco Poortvliet
“Notice I didn’t call it a training because the facilitators aren’t holding a lecture about Scrum. I also didn’t call it a workshop because that wouldn’t do it justice. The Scrum Facilitators create an environment where we could inspect and adapt the way we present our message about Scrum. It’s all about the feedback you get from your peers and the facilitators. So you get to improve getting and giving feedback.
My lesson learned here is that when you think over your delivery, the message isn’t lost. I could have answered this question like “I’ve heard about Sprint 0. In the Scrum Guide there isn’t a mention about this. Who knows what Sprint 0 is?” After that you can have a talk about it. When not starting with a hard statement, people are more open to listen to you.
If you are a Scrum Master or Agile coach with experience and you want to improve your skills in coming up with an answer fast, concise and precise and in the right way, this is a journey for you.” - Sven de Koning
“If you have a lot of years experience in Scrum Mastering and/or Agile coaching and are willing to take the next step in becoming the best Scrum Master you can be, then take this SM 3.0 journey and become a Scrum diamond.” - Marc Eelen
“Scrum Master 3.0. a brilliant experience! I recommend it to any Scrum Master who's reached the point where they wonder how to apply their knowledge & experience more effectively!” - Erik de Bos
“I was not looking for more theory, I wanted to brainstorm with fellow colleagues in a safe environment about Scrum Values and principles. I wanted to open up my mind and challenge my standard way of thinking… And Scrum Facilitators delivered just that and more! With their energy and pragmatic and original approach they came up with Scrum Master 3.0. And honestly, if you have been working as a Scrum Master for a while, please check them out. I can fully recommend this” **- Esther Snijders **
